Banks in several states will remain closed on June 6 or 7 to mark the occasion of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha), depending on the regional observance of the festival. The holiday dates vary across states and are notified by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under its annual holiday calendar.
These holidays are apart from the usual weekly offs observed on the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays of each month.
Despite the physical branches being closed in some cities, all digital banking services — including internet banking, mobile apps, UPI, and WhatsApp banking — will remain fully functional. Customers can continue to carry out transactions online without interruption.
Here’s a list of cities where banks will remain closed:
Bank holiday on June 6 (Thursday): Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid); Banks are shut in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
