Actress Tamannaah Bhatia recently shared her go-to home remedy for tackling acne and it’s simple, natural, and effective

Pimples can be stubborn and annoying but there are a number of gentle and effective methods to get rid of acne naturally. Tamannaah Bhatia, who recently revealed in an interview that she applies her own saliva on acne because it is full of natural antibacterial ingredients, has surprised many.

Mumbai-based dermatologist Dr Meenal Khare says that there is no dearth of natural remedies that can alleviate inflammation, balance out excess oil and expedite healing — all without any side-effects.

Tamannaah Trick: Use Your First Urine (Morning Saliva)

Tamannaah Bhatia claims she applies her morning saliva on pimples to reduce the size. Saliva — which has enzymes and mild antibacterial benefits — could also help to soothe acne in its early stages. Though the minor healing effects may not be scientifically proven, there are some anecdotal evidence supporting it, explains Dr Meenal Khare.

Apply Raw Honey

Rundh: Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent; Put a little raw or Manuka honey on the skin and leave it for 15–20 minutes and then wash off. It assists in the elimination of redness and transmission of bacteria.

Aloe Vera Gel

Fresh aloe vera gel works to calm inflammation and is rich in salicylic acid and sulfur, both of which are frequently experienced in acne products. Using the gel from the plant directly will help soothe inflammation and repair the skin.

Green Tea Compress

Green Tea possess antioxidants and it also decrease sebum production. Brew a tea bag of green tea, cool it down, soak a cotton ball in it and apply it to your face. Keep it 10–15 minutes every day to avoid skin svelte.

Tea Tree Oil Spot Treatment

Tea tree oil is a potent antibacterial agent; it should be diluted. Combine 1–2 drops with a carrier oil (such as jojoba or coconut oil) and use it on acne areas. This kills the bacteria responsible for causing acne without making your skin dry out like a synthetic one.

Ice Pack for Swelling

Take a clean piece of cloth, wrap an ice cube, and apply it to the swollen pimples for 2-3 mins. It can minimize redness, pain and inflammation (especially when it comes to cystic acne).

Apple Cider Vinegar Toner

Diluted with water 1:3, it can be used as a toner. It is acidic and helps in killing bacteria which can balance the pH on the skin. To avoid irritation, do a patch test first.

Neem Paste

Neem leaves are antibacterial and antifungal too. Make a paste of fresh neem leaves and apply on your face. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes and then rinse. This remedy works great for oily and pimple-prone skin.

Avoid Touching Your Face

Having the hands o your face move bacteria and oil, the ensuing is a little of led, the symptom of acne. You need to keep your hands clean to prevent picking and to pop the pimple to prevent scarring and infections.

Stay Well Hydrated and Go Clean 

Thirst and food are very important. Stay hydrated and Drink more than 8 litres of water on daily basis and stay away from sweet and oily foods. Fruits, vegetables, and omega-3s make for an ideal diet to help in controlling sebum, as well as in providing an environment for skin repair.
