Cooking can be therapeutic. However, cluttered counters, tangled utensils, and the notorious hunt for the spice jar can take away the joy out of cooking. But with a little creativity and thoughtful planning, your kitchen can become a calming, clutter-free space.
A well-organised kitchen adds to the aesthetics, and also makes your life easy, says Lokendra Ranawat, Co-Founder & CEO, Wooden Street. “When everything has a place and function, cooking becomes less of a task and more of an experience. Smart kitchen planning is for large spaces as well as for small kitchens," he says.

- Slide-out pantry magic: Don’t overlook narrow gaps in your kitchen, they’re perfect for slide-out shelves that neatly store oils, sauces, and snacks. “These hidden storage spots are surprisingly effective and incredibly useful,” says Ranawat.
- Go vertical with ladder shelves or pegboards: Maximise your wall space with open shelving or pegboards. Hang pots, display plates, or keep herbs within arm’s reach.
- Create a breakfast or coffee station: A dedicated morning corner keeps essentials like coffee, cereal, and mugs in one spot, “A compact shelf with a coffee maker, jars of cereal, and stacked mugs for a quick, cafe-style start to your day,” says Ranawat.
