  • Student's honest leave letter in Bundelkhandi went viral in 2022
  • The line about school not shutting became a social media hit
  • The post highlighted the charm of local dialects and innocence

Some social media posts fade with time, but a few stay in our memory because they are simply too good to forget. One such post surfaced in 2022 when IAS officer Arpit Verma shared a photograph of a leave application on Twitter (now X). The note, written by a student, had people laughing and sharing it everywhere.

In his tweet, Mr Verma mentioned that the student was from the Bundelkhand region and that his native language had won everyone's hearts. The application was not written in formal textbook language, but carried the beautiful, earthy flavour of Bundelkhandi.

What the Letter Says

According to the image shared online, the student, who has signed the letter as Kalua, writes to his teacher about his health. He says that for the past two days, he has been suffering from a fever, and on top of that, he has a cold with a runny nose. Because of this, he is unable to come to school.

He then politely requests the teacher to grant him leave for a couple of days. The wording is simple and direct, the way a child would speak in his native tongue.

The Line That Became Famous

The letter ends with a line that readers found both funny and surprisingly honest. Kalua writes:

"Even if I don't come, it won't lead to a school shutdown, yours, Kalua."

It is a simple observation, delivered with complete innocence. The student is basically saying that his absence is not going to stop the school from functioning, so the teacher might as well accept his request. There is no drama, no formality—just a child stating the plain truth. And that honesty is what made the line a viral hit.

A Viral Post, Not a Verified Document

It is important to remember that this letter became famous because of a social media post. Whether it is a genuine school application or something that was written for fun, there is no way to confirm. What can be said is that the language, with its Bundelkhandi touch, caught people's attention and reminded everyone of the charm of local dialects.

Years later, the post remains a fun memory from the internet—a simple leave application that made people across the country smile.
