It’s amazing how natural kitchen ingredients can address various hair concerns. Creating homemade hair masks has never been easier. With ingredients like curd and rice water, these DIY recipes can nourish, enhance, and add luster to your hair, all without expensive salon trips:

Curd hair mask: Curd contains protein and probiotics that nourish the scalp and hair follicles, promoting hair growth and improving hair texture. Additionally, the lactic acid in curd helps to cleanse the scalp and remove dead skin cells, reducing dandruff and promoting scalp health.

Recipe: Mix 1 cup of curd with 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Red lentil (Masoor dal) hair mask: Red lentils are rich in protein, iron, and antioxidants, which strengthen hair follicles, prevent hair breakage, and promote hair growth. The nutrients in red lentils also nourish the scalp, prevent dryness and dandruff.

Recipe: Soak ½ cup of red lentils overnight, then grind them into a paste. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and mix well. Apply the paste to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.

Rice water hair mask: Rice water contains vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that promote hair growth, strengthen hair strands, and improve hair elasticity. It also contains inositol, which repairs damaged hair and enhances hair texture.

Recipe: Rinse 1 cup of rice thoroughly, then soak it in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes. Strain the rice water and use it as a hair rinse after shampooing.

Dry mango powder hair mask: Aamchur, or dry mango powder, is rich in vitamin C, which stimulates collagen production in the scalp, which may help in hair growth. It also aids to maintain the pH balance of the scalp and reduce oiliness, preventing scalp infections.

Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of aamchur (dried mango powder) with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash off with a mild shampoo.

Egg hair mask: Eggs are packed with protein, biotin, and essential vitamins that nourish the hair follicles, strengthen the hair shaft, and prevent hair loss. The fatty acids in eggs also moisturise the scalp and hair, reducing dryness and frizz.

Recipe: Beat 1 egg and mix it with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then rinse off with cold water.

Fuller’s earth hair mask: Mulatani mitti or fuller’s earth, absorbs excess oil and impurities from the scalp, unclogging hair follicles and improving scalp health. It also has cooling and soothing properties that relieve scalp irritation and inflammation, making it ideal for oily scalp and dandruff treatment.

Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of mulatani mitti with enough water to make a smooth paste. Apply the paste to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse off with water.
