Shark Tank India judge and entrepreneur Namita Thapar has always been open about her struggles with weight and body image. In her recent post, she shared her struggles with perimenopause, something no one really talks about.

Namita took to Instagram to talk about her battle with perimenopause, which started 3 years ago. It was then that a friend pushed her to get back to gymming and take care of her physical and mental health.

She wrote, “I’m 48 and I’ve been struggling with perimenopause for the last 3 years. No one warns you about how tough this is. Thanks to a dear friend, I got back into my gym routine and it’s helped me a lot with my body aches, energy, and keeping a positive mindset.”

Namita also shared in her video that she put on a lot of weight, especially around her tummy, during her perimenopause phase, besides going through other health issues. She added that it affects bone health as well, so she took to regular workouts, especially weight training, emphasising how strengthening your core is very important. This has kept her fit, energised, and helped her with her mood swings. She revealed that she works out 6 days a week.

Namita left a note of advice for fellow women going through the same, saying, “My lovely ladies, be selfish, take care of yourself & invest in that muscle mass that gets so depleted with age and wreaks havoc on our health!”

While the business leader is deeply invested in her new brand providing a range of healthcare products for perimenopausal women, she shared in another post that nothing replaces a healthy lifestyle.

She wrote in another post, where she is seen practicing yoga moves including a headstand: “I’m excited about my new venture @arthbyemcure but please remember that supplements can never ever be a replacement for a good diet, sound sleep & regular exercise. ARTH ‘supplements’ a good lifestyle, not ‘substitutes’ it! Sunday ho ya Monday, roz hota hai mera yoga day (Whether it’s Sunday or Monday, every day is a yoga day for me).”
