Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan are reportedly gearing up to collaborate once again for Main Hoon Na 2, a sequel to their 2004 hit.
The project is said to be in its early development stage, with the superstar having given his approval for it. According to a Pinkvilla report, Shah Rukh Khan holds Main Hoon Na in high regard, as it was the first film produced under his Red Chillies Entertainment banner.
He was initially hesitant to pursue a sequel, but was drawn to the idea Farah Khan proposed.
The report mentions that Farah Khan has come up with a unique concept for Main Hoon Na 2, which has already won Shah Rukh’s approval. Currently, Farah is working with a team of writers to refine the screenplay, alongside Red Chillies’ in-house writers. Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly asked the team to work diligently to ensure the script exceeds the impact of the original film.
The report further stated, "Farah (Khan, director) has cracked an idea for Main Hoon Na 2, and Shah Rukh has loved the route she plans to take for the sequel. Farah is presently working to crack the screenplay with her team of writers, as also the ones working with Red Chillies."
"SRK has asked Farah and his in-house team of writers to honestly work on the screenplay and come up with something that surpasses the impact of the first part. He is expected to hear the first draft by mid-2025 and then take a call on the same. The script is presently in the development stage," the report continued.
Main Hoon Na, released in 2004, was Farah Khan’s directorial debut. Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film featured Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan (who played SRK’s younger brother Laxman), and Amrita Rao. Fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of this iconic film.
