The early 2000s were marked by a whirlwind of love and controversy in Bollywood, especially revolving around Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan, and Vivek Oberoi. The relationships among these stars sparked intense media attention, and while Aishwarya’s breakup with Salman Khan in 2002 was widely publicized, her subsequent link-up with Vivek in 2003 led to a very public feud with Salman.
This controversy had a profound impact on Vivek's career, with many speculating that Salman’s influence in the industry affected his opportunities.
Years later, Vivek Oberoi, now far removed from the media frenzy, has reflected on his past and the lessons he's learned along the way. In a candid interview on Dr. Jai Madaan’s YouTube channel given a few months ago, Vivek opened up about the emotional toll that the public eye can have, particularly after a high-profile breakup.
When asked about Salman Khan, Vivek responded simply and gracefully, saying, “God bless him,” choosing not to dwell on the past. Similarly, he offered a similar sentiment when speaking of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, saying, “God bless her.”
However, Vivek had nothing but kind words for Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya's husband. Calling him "a sweetheart and a really nice person," Vivek seemed to have moved past any lingering tensions and embraced a more positive outlook.

On Breakups & Moving Forward
The conversation then shifted to the emotional impact of his breakup with Aishwarya Rai. Reflecting on the public nature of such events, Vivek shared, “Your breakup becomes world news. But moving on is the key to healing.”
Offering advice to those struggling with heartbreak, Vivek likened the healing process to a child dropping a lollipop in the mud: “Life will give you a new partner. The longer you stay with pain, the more it’ll grow.”
Vivek also touched on the importance of self-worth in relationships. He explained, “Sometimes, we enter abusive relationships where we are not valued or respected. You stay because you haven’t identified your self-worth.” For Vivek, realizing his own value became a turning point in his emotional growth. He confessed that there was a time in his life when he held a fatalistic attitude, thinking, “I don’t care, I can give my life also.”
Rising Above Negativity
When asked how his past had shaped him as a person, Vivek reflected on the possibility that he might have become “a superficial person, living a superficial life.” He continued, “Perhaps I would’ve become plastic myself, among people with plastic smiles.”
He also shared how he has learned to rise above negativity and trolling. “If people troll me now, I don’t care. I know my purpose in life and what is truly important to me,” he said.
Despite all the ups and downs, Vivek Oberoi has embraced positivity and self-awareness, showing that healing and growth are possible, even after heartbreak and public scrutiny. His journey reflects how difficult experiences can ultimately lead to greater emotional maturity and a renewed sense of purpose.
