Vivek Oberoi has stirred up a fresh round of debate after making a bold remark about the transient nature of fame. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Vivek reflected on how stardom, no matter how towering, can fade with time, even for icons who currently define the industry.
Discussing how quickly legacies can be forgotten by new generations, Vivek said, "Which film, starring someone who worked in the 1960s… you ask anyone about that today, nobody cares."
He then added his now-viral prediction, “2050 mein log bolenge ‘kaun Shah Rukh Khan’, shayad (In 2050, people might ask, ‘Who is Shah Rukh Khan?’, perhaps).”
He went a step further by suggesting that this phenomenon applies even to legends like Raj Kapoor. Vivek observed, "People today might ask, ‘Who is Raj Kapoor?’ You and I, we call him the god of cinema, but if you ask any youngster who is a fan of Ranbir Kapoor, they might not even know who Raj Kapoor was. So maybe history relegates you into nothingness."
The remark has triggered mixed reactions online as fans called it “disrespectful”, while others agreed that the shelf-life of fame is shorter in the digital age.

Fresh off his role in the historical action drama Kesari Veer, Vivek is gearing up for one of the biggest films of his career: Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana. The mythological epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Raavana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Vivek is reportedly playing Vibhishan.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is currently filming King, an action entertainer that will mark his first on-screen collaboration with daughter Suhana Khan. The cast also includes Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Jaideep Ahlawat.
