Unacademy CEO Gaurav Munjal scores coveted Coldplay concert tickets

Gaurav Munjal, CEO of the ed-tech platform Unacademy, took to social media to share his excitement after securing tickets for British band Coldplay’s much-anticipated concert in India. As soon as the band announced their return to India, set for January 2025, fans across the country erupted in joy, flooding social media with excitement and plans to attend. Munjal was one of the lucky few who managed to get tickets amid a surge in demand that even briefly crashed the BookMyShow platform.

Coldplay's Mumbai concert is scheduled for January 18 and 19, 2025, at the DY Patil Stadium, with an additional show on January 20 due to overwhelming demand. Tickets for the concert ranged from ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, with options available at several price points. As soon as they went on sale, fans rushed to BookMyShow, only to face difficulties as the platform struggled to handle the influx of buyers.

Munjal, who splits his time between Bengaluru and the U.S., shared his happiness on X (formerly Twitter), humorously comparing the difficulty of securing tickets to clearing India’s notoriously tough Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). His post read, "Didn’t clear JEE. But got the Coldplay tickets today. Feels good.” The comparison resonated with many, as the JEE is widely regarded as one of the most challenging exams in India.

Munjal's tweet quickly went viral, amassing over a lakh views and drawing plenty of comments from fans who related to his experience. Many commented on the shared struggle to get tickets, with some fans expressing envy and others congratulating him on his success.
