Twinkle Khanna, a former Bollywood actress who is now a writer, fiercely refutes circulating rumours that she is connected to criminal Dawood Ibrahim. According to recent rumours, Khanna sang a medley of songs for the infamous criminal.

Former Bollywood actress and writer Twinkle Khanna has reacted to rumours of having performed on a medley of songs for underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Replying in her witty manner, she wrote a long note with her post: "We have already witnessed a spate of manipulated news stories like the morphed pictures that showed the Phogats smiling during the wrestler’s protests. I have even seen my name on a mainstream television channel ticker saying I had performed a medley of songs for Dawood. Considering that even my children think my dancing skills are akin to watching a WWF match between a lone wrestler and gravity, the news channels should have known that Dawood would have chosen more skilled performers. But such is the world of fake news."

But on a serious note, Twinkle said these fabricated news stories do have real-life consequences.' "These digital fabrications have real-life consequences. A single concoction about child abduction gangs, spread as WhatsApp forwards, led to over 20 people in India being beaten to death in a short span. In the last few weeks, I have seen our politicians talking about the perils of circulating videos of people eating meat during Navratri when perhaps they should be warning citizens of the dangers of consuming nonsense instead of non-vegetarian food. Have you ever been taken in by fake news? Let me know in the comments below."

She has written a column on this issue in the TOI. According to reports, a few parties were hosted by Underworld Don in Dubai, where Twinkle had performed. It was denied by her actor husband, Akshay Kumar, in 2010 as well.

Twinkle is a successful author and writer. She also runs her candle business and is also running Tweak India on Instagram, where she interviews entrepreneurs.

Twinkle and Akshay got married in 2001, and the couple has a son, Arrav, and a daughter, Nitara. She made her Bollywood debut opposite Bobby Deol in 'Barsaat.' Post that she was seen in 'Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai', 'Seenu', 'Baadshah', 'Joru Ka Ghulam'.

Her last film was Mela opposite Khan's brothers, Aamir and Faisal, after which she stopped acting and shifted focus to writing—her first love.

Twinkle Khanna's first book, 'Mrs Funnybones', was released in 2015, and it was a hit. Next year, she released her second book, 'The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad'. Her third book, Pyjamas Are Forgiving made her the highest-selling female author in India in 2018, according to Nielsen BookScan India.
