Renowned Telugu lyricist Kulasekhar passed away on Tuesday at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad at the age of 53.
Reports indicate that he succumbed to health complications after being admitted to the hospital for treatment, but was unable to recover.
He was originally from Vizag. The renowned lyricist, who contributed to over 100 films, is best known for writing memorable songs in movies like Chitram, Jayam, Nuvvu Nenu, Santosham, Ramma Chilakamma, and Vasantham, among many others.
His lyrics graced several hit films like Chitram, Aunnana Kaadanna, Gharshana, Bhadra, Nuvvu Nenu, Santosham, Jayam, and Sainikudu, was once a prominent figure in the Telugu film industry, delivering several chart-topping songs. He enjoyed a period of immense success, with his work loved by audiences and celebrated by the industry. However, after a while, opportunities began to dry up, leaving him in a difficult position. This shift led to a period of mental distress for him, and in his desperation for money, he resorted to theft.
His criminal activities led to multiple run-ins with the law, and he eventually served a jail sentence. After serving a six-month jail sentence in a theft case last year, Kulasekhar reportedly faced a lack of offers from Tollywood.
Despite his efforts to revive his career and seek new opportunities, they did not materialize, and in recent years, Kulasekhar found himself distanced from the film industry he once thrived in.
