The iconic Supriya Pathak, beloved for her portrayal of Hansa in the popular sitcom Khichdi, has recreated one of her own famous dialogues with her daughter, Sanah Kapur, but with a delightful twist. The moment pays homage to one of the most memorable TV show crossovers, where Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi shared an unforgettable collaboration.
In a throwback to that nostalgic moment, Supriya, takes on the role of her real-life sister, Ratna Pathak Shah who used to play Maya, while engaging in a fun, light-hearted recreation of the iconic gajra scene.
Sanah captioned the post as, "Ba (my grandmother) was always the Maya to our Hansa …she always put a smile on everyone’s faces….this is our attempt to try to follow in her footsteps ( of course i dragged mom into it ) here is wishing Ba a very Happy Birthday miss you always "
The mother-daughter duo, both dressed casually, stood in front of the mirror as they reenacted the dialogue. Sanah, portraying the role of Hansa, initiates the exchange, saying, "Maya, tere paas gajra toh hoga na?" (Maya, you must have a gajra, right?)
Supriya, as Maya, responds with, "Nahi, main gajra nahi lagati" (No, I don’t wear a gajra), much to Sanah’s amusement. The playful back-and-forth continues with Sanah teasing, "Haaye Haaaye, kabhi nahi... toh fir tujhe ekdam halka halka lagta hoga na?" (Oh, never... so you must feel light-headed, right?).
Supriya delivers her famous response, "Nahi, mere paas dimaag hai, main uske wazan se kaam chla lete hu" (No, I have a brain, I manage with the weight of it). The scene concludes with Sanah’s light-hearted remark, "Achha Achha" (Alright, alright).
This heartwarming moment brings back fond memories of the collaboration between Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi, two sitcoms that became a staple in Indian television culture. Both shows, known for their sharp wit and unforgettable characters, captured the hearts of audiences across the country.
Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, with its clever humour and the infamous character of Maya, played by Supriya Pathak, remains a cult favourite. Meanwhile, Khichdi with its quirky and lovable characters, including Hansa, brought a unique blend of humour and heart to viewers. The crossover of these iconic shows brought together two worlds of comedic brilliance, leaving an indelible mark on TV history.
