Kubbra Sait talks about the time when she got an abortion all on her own

Kubra Sait, an Indian actress, television presenter, and model, widely recognised for her roles in both Bollywood and the digital entertainment world recently opened up about a deeply personal experience that has had a lasting impact on her life.

In a heartfelt interview, she spoke about her journey of undergoing a medical abortion and the emotional toll it took on her. Despite the physical and mental challenges, Kubra reflected on how the decision to undergo the procedure ultimately shaped her and gave her a sense of inner strength.

In her conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Kubra shared, “When I went through the abortion, I don’t think I was being strong at all. I was just too weak to take it forward. I didn’t have the courage or the strength to say that if I don’t do this, then I will live with it. I felt very weak at that time. I felt hollow. I felt like I was not worth it at all. But what came out of it much later was strength. That you made a decision for yourself and stood by your own thoughts. You broke stereotypical patterns, you broke societal norms and no one knew about it. I went by myself and got myself through the abortion. I didn’t tell anyone."

Kubra revealed that, shortly after the abortion, she met a close female friend who was going through her own emotional struggles. Kubra, still processing the impact of her decision, confided in her friend, sharing her experience. The conversation led to a powerful and emotional realisation.

“I just told her, ‘Who went through an abortion? You?’ And that’s when it hit her and that’s when it hit me and that’s when I started weeping because I was like, ‘I have not told this to anyone’. No one knows that this is what I have gone through," she said.

At the time, Kubra did not fully comprehend the profound impact that her decision would have on her life. She reflected on the solitude of the experience, realising how isolated she felt. "What if I died? And you are taking this decision all by yourself. No one knows and no one cares. And this is not a small decision of your life. You don’t know how it’s going to impact the rest of your life."

Through this vulnerable and raw admission, Kubra Sait not only shed light on the emotional aftermath of her decision but also spoke about the broader societal pressures surrounding such personal choices. Her openness about such a sensitive topic serves as a reminder of the importance of self-empowerment and breaking free from societal expectations. Kubra’s bravery in discussing her abortion publicly highlights the need for more compassion and understanding around women’s health and choices.
