Kamal Haasan starrer upcoming film Thug Life's entire cast gathered at Chennai's Kalaivanar Arangam as they launched the first single Jinguchaa from the film. It was graced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, and A.R. Rahman, with stalwarts Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Joju George, and Ashok Selvan.
Speaking at the press conference, Silambarasan, also known as Simbu, expressed his experience working with Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.
Simbu called Kamal Haasan his 'Guru' and revealed his excitement to be a part of this project working with him and filmmaker Mani Ratnam. "This film is like a dream. Generally, with Mani sir, we watch movies and want to be a part of his films. Rahman sir, his music, Kamal sir my on-screen guru. So, Ravi K. sir, everybody, we used to watch their movies and feel like, one day, we should be a part of their film. So this is like all of them together in one film. That is really surreal."
Further elaborating on working with Mani Ratnam and his style of filming a movie, Simbu said, "When we were shooting, it was very tough to even go and perform for the first few days. Because it’s Mani sir’s film. Before this, I did Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Even at that time, it was a little tough. Then slowly I started learning how to work with Mani sir. So it took some time. But here, it’s Mani sir and Kamal sir together."
The actor expressed his gratitude towards Kamal Haasan, recalling how he had grown up watching his films and always admired him. He shared that it was an incredible moment to act alongside Kamal Haasan, especially since he had been a child actor since childhood.
He then mentioned that Kamal Haasan had taken great care of him, offering immense encouragement and support, which he deeply appreciated. He also acknowledged the generosity of Kamal Haasan for giving him a place beside him, highlighting the actor's magnanimity.
