Shah Rukh Khan, a prominent figure in Bollywood, recently shared his fond memories and close relationship with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. He humorously referred to Virat as Bollywood’s ‘damaad’ (son-in-law) due to Virat's marriage to actress Anushka Sharma, who has been Shah Rukh’s co-star in several films including 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', and 'Zero'.
Shah Rukh expressed how he has known Virat since the days he was dating Anushka and would frequently visit her on film sets.
In an interview with Star Sports, Shah Rukh reminisced about the time spent with Virat, saying, “I spent a lot of time with him, I just love him. We say that he is our son-in-law, he is our fraternity’s ‘Daamad’. I have known him the most compared to other players. I have known Virat and Anushka for a long time and spent a lot of time with them. I have known him since his dating period was going on and I was shooting the film with Anushka Sharma. So, he spent many days with us, and became very friendly.”
Shah Rukh’s affectionate remarks highlight the deep bond he shares with Virat, transcending the professional realms of Bollywood and cricket. This bond was further showcased in a light-hearted moment last year during the Indian Premier League (IPL) when Shah Rukh and Virat were seen dancing together to the song ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ from Shah Rukh’s blockbuster film 'Pathaan'. Shah Rukh humorously noted that Virat and his teammate, Ravindra Jadeja, needed a little help with their dance moves. He recounted, “So, I taught him the Pathaan movie title song dance steps. I saw him in one of India’s matches, he tried to dance with Ravindra Jadeja in the match. They were trying to do that dance step, I was very sad that they were doing it so badly. I told them that let me make you learn the steps so that in the next World Cup and other Championships, whenever you dance at least you will call me and ask how to do the steps.”
The camaraderie between Shah Rukh and Virat highlights a delightful blending of India's two most loved fields—cinema and cricket. Shah Rukh Khan, affectionately known as SRK, had a phenomenal year in 2023 with his films 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', and 'Dunki'. These films not only captivated audiences worldwide but also earned a combined total of Rs 2500 crore globally, marking them as the biggest hits of his career.
As fans eagerly anticipate what’s next, reports suggest Shah Rukh’s upcoming film will be titled 'The King' and might feature his daughter, Suhana Khan, marking another exciting chapter in his illustrious career.
