Indian Revenue Service officer Sameer Wankhede has reportedly moved the Delhi High Court, seeking a permanent injunction against the recently released Netflix series Bads of Bollywood.

As reported by ANI, in his suit, Wankhede has sought relief in the nature of a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration, and damages against the production house, Netflix and others, adding that he has been aggrieved by a false, malicious, and defamatory video in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, 'The Bads of Bollywood'.

"This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions," he claimed in his plea.

He also claimed that the series has been deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Sameer Wankhede's reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner, particularly when proceedings involving him and Aryan Khan remain pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court, Mumbai.

He contended that the portrayal unfairly targets him at a time when the judicial scrutiny is ongoing.

The seven-episode show, directed by SRK’s son Aryan Khan, premiered on the platform on September 18.

Interestingly, after the show’s release, many viewers noticed that a character appearing at the end of the first episode strongly resembles Sameer Wankhede.

The sequence in question shows an officer who claims to be fighting a “war against drugs” as part of an agency called “NCG.” The officer storms into a glitzy Bollywood party, angrily accusing the film industry of being plagued by substance abuse.

What caught everyone’s attention was the character’s look. His white shirt and dark pants, along with his haircut and physical features, bear an uncanny resemblance to Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer.

For context, Sameer Wankhede is the same officer who made headlines in 2021 for arresting Aryan Khan in the infamous drug case investigation.

Although the makers of the show have not stated that the character is based on Wankhede, social media users were quick to draw the comparison and believe that the resemblance is far from accidental.
