Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna's film Sikandar, which released in March this year, failed to make a mark both critically and commercially. Despite high expectations, the film underperformed at the box office and struggled to connect with audiences. Adding to its woes, Sikandar reportedly fell victim to widespread pre-release piracy. Now, producer Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is said to be preparing to file a significant insurance claim in response to the losses incurred.

Unfortunately, Sikandar suffered a significant setback when it was leaked online the day before its March 30, 2025, theatrical debut.

High-definition pirated copies of the movie were made available to the public on a number of well-known piracy websites, including Tamilrockers, Movierulz, and Filmyzilla. The movie's box office performance and attendance were significantly impacted by this serious breach.

According to reports, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is now getting ready to submit a sizable insurance claim for Rs 91 crore in light of the damage caused by piracy. The goal of the claim is to compensate for the monetary losses incurred as a result of the movie's unlawful internet distribution prior to its official release.

According to sources quoted by Bollywood Hungama, "An audit was commissioned to assess the extent of the leak and the resulting impact on revenue. Ernst & Young (EnY) submitted a comprehensive report that pegged the loss at approximately Rs. 91 crore.”

Industry insiders claim that Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's Rs 91 crore insurance claim was determined using a number of important criteria. These included pre-release box office estimates, earnings by region, and trends in theatre occupancy that revealed a steep drop after Sikandar was leaked online.

According to reports, the production company tracked the amount of piracy, including the quantity of illegal downloads for the Salman Khan film across various platforms, using sophisticated digital footprint tracing tools.

It's interesting to note that the final version of Sikandar that was shown in theatres was very different from the pirated version. The leaked copy included footage that was eventually cut out of the official theatrical release in addition to having a number of scenes with subpar visual effects. These differences further hurt the film's reception by implying that the pirated version was taken from an early, incomplete cut.

Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's latest production Housefull 5 starring an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt among others has been performing exceptionally well at the box office since its release on June 6, 2025, bringing much-needed momentum to the banner.
