Ravi Mohan: Case update on Bro Code title

Actor-turned-producer Ravi Mohan has received a moment of relief in his ongoing legal tussle over the title of his upcoming film, Bro Code.

The Madras High Court has granted a temporary injunction in favour of Ravi Mohan Studios, preventing beverage company Indobevs—which sells an energy drink under the same name—from issuing threats or copyright notices against the movie’s makers.

According to Live Law, the injunction will remain in place for three weeks, offering immediate protection to the production house.

The court instructed that a formal notice be served to Indobevs and stated that if the company does not comply within the set timeframe, the order may be extended further.

For now, the beverage brand has been barred from taking any legal action related to the use of the title Bro Code.

Ravi Mohan approached the court after Indobevs reportedly sent warnings to the production team, claiming ownership of the Bro Code trademark.

The company alleged that the film’s title infringed upon their rights, as they had applied for copyright registration of the same name for their line of alcoholic and energy beverages. However, the trademark application is still pending approval.

In his plea, Ravi Mohan argued that the film’s title had nothing to do with beverages and that using Bro Code for a cinematic project did not amount to any trademark violation.

Additionally, he requested a permanent injunction to stop the business from interfering with the film's marketing, promotion, or production.

Ravi Mohan is currently taking on new challenges behind the camera. He is most known for his role opposite Nithya Menen in the romantic comedy Kadhalika Neramillai. In addition to producing and acting in Bro Code, he is directing his first film, An Ordinary Man, which stars Yogi Babu in the lead role.

SJ Suryah, Arjun Ashokan, Upendra, Gouri Priya, Shraddha Srinath, Malavika Manoj, and Aishwarya Raj are among the film's star-studded cast members.
