Rapper DDG seeks restraining order against ex Halle Bailey

Singer-songwriter and actress Halle Bailey has recently landed in legal trouble after her rapper ex, DDG, sought a domestic violence restraining order against her.

According to People, DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, has recently requested an emergency hearing, asking the court to prohibit Bailey’s international travel with their 17-month-old son, Halo.

DDG has notably made some serious allegations against the actress in the court documents. He claimed that Bailey poses an “imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm.”

Meanwhile, the rapper’s legal team has requested the Los Angeles Supreme Court to prohibit Halle from travelling to Italy. He argued in the documents that his son would be without any “emergency intervention mechanisms” overseas.

The rapper further alleged in the court documents obtained by E! News that Halle “routinely used emotional coercion and manipulation to exert her control over me, often threatening me by using self-harm or ending her life” throughout their nearly three-year relationship.

DDG claimed that when Halle Bailey was pregnant with their child in 2023, she “threatened me by demanding that we reconcile, or she would go through with the abortion.” Additionally, the singer allegedly also “threatened to end her life using my legally owned firearm” in the same year.

DDG continued in the document, “Given these threats to self-harm. I believe the Petitioner is a threat to our son's safety such that she should not be allowed to take Halo out of the country to Italy for a period of two months.”

Meanwhile, Halle Bailey has also filed a restraining order against DDG, alleging that the rapper “has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son, Halo, from his ongoing abuse.”

For the unversed, Halle Bailey and DDG sparked dating speculations in early 2022, after they were spotted for the first time at Usher’s concert in Las Vegas. They publicly confirmed their relationship in June 2022, attending the BET Awards together.

In January 2024, they announced the birth of their son, Halo. The duo’s relationship tragically ended in October 2024, with Bailey filing a restraining order against DDG in May 2025, citing abuse.
