"Ranbir Kapoor came first in a race for daughter Raha, calls her 'Dal Chawal", reveals Ramayana co-actor Indira Krishnan

Ranbir Kapoor has always charmed audiences with his stellar performances and quiet humility. Known for staying away from social media and over-the-top publicity, Ranbir has let his work speak for itself.

As he continues to captivate audiences on-screen, it’s his off-screen role as a doting father that is winning hearts now. In a recent interview, veteran actress Indira Krishnan shared some heartwarming details about Ranbir and his daughter Raha Kapoor, calling their bond "pure and beautiful."

Indira Krishnan, who will be seen as Kaushalya in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana, is all praise for Ranbir, who plays Lord Ram in the film.

Speaking to NDTV, she revealed, “I've never seen a star of his stature treat people the way he does.” The actress went on to describe him as one of her favourite co-stars and opened up about their warm interactions on set.

But it was Ranbir’s comments about his daughter Raha that truly touched Indira and now, fans across the country. “He told me Raha is his dal chawal,” she said, referring to the classic Indian comfort food. “The simplicity and love with which he talks about his daughter – it stayed with me.” In a world where celebrities often use flowery language to describe their relationships, Ranbir’s choice of words stands out for its groundedness and emotional depth.

Indira further shared that Ranbir would often talk to her about books for his daughter. “Every day he would remind me, ‘Ma'am, did you get the books for Raha?’” she recounted with a smile. His constant curiosity about childhood literature and eagerness to create a nurturing environment for his daughter show just how involved and caring he is as a parent.

One particularly sweet moment that Indira remembered was when Ranbir showed up on set with a slight limp. Concerned, she asked him what had happened. His response was as endearing as it was surprising. “There was a race, Indira ji… I ran for Raha. And I came first,” he told her. He had pulled a muscle while playing with his daughter but still came to work without complaint. “That’s Ranbir. A father before anything else,” Indira added.

Ranbir Kapoor is currently juggling multiple big-budget films. He will next be seen in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios along with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film, backed by the Oscar-winning VFX team at DNEG, is slated for a global IMAX release — Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

He was last seen in Animal, a box office blockbuster by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and is now also shooting for Love & War, a Sanjay Leela Bhansali epic starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
