Rana Daggubati and Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a fun moment during their appearance at the IIFA Utsavam awards held in Abu Dhabi. The two actors, who share a friendly bond, engaged in some light-hearted banter that caught the attention of fans. In a video that later went viral on social media, Rana made a humorous comment about Samantha, saying, “Samantha went from Tollywood to Hollywood. Went from my sister-in-law to sister.”

This comment surprised the audience, and Samantha couldn’t help but laugh. She jokingly responded to Rana, asking, “What is this self-trolling about?” The audience joined in the laughter, showing how much they enjoyed the playful exchange.

At the event, Samantha had received the Women of the Year award from actor Vicky Kaushal. Afterward, Rana and fellow actor Teja Sajja invited her to stay on stage for a fun chat. Rana’s joke about her moving from being his "sister-in-law" to his "sister" left the crowd in splits. He was referring to Samantha’s divorce from Naga Chaitanya, who is Rana’s cousin. Though they had previously been connected through marriage, Rana now playfully referred to her as a sister, reflecting the easy-going camaraderie they share.

The conversation didn’t stop there. Rana also asked Samantha why she hadn’t done many Telugu films lately. Samantha responded, “If I do a film, it should be like Narasimha Naidu, not Rana Naidu.” This was a cheeky reference to the difference between the kind of roles she wanted and the Netflix series *Rana Naidu*, in which Rana stars.

Rana, in a jovial mood, teased Samantha about her decision not to work in Telugu cinema, saying, “That’s not cinema, sister, it’s a show. They told me you can do anything on it, I learned that from *Family Man*.” Samantha had appeared in the second season of *The Family Man*, which is a popular Prime Video series. It was a playful back-and-forth where both stars were clearly having a good time.

Rana also recalled a time when he would jokingly call Samantha “Samantha Ruthless Prabhu” and asked her, “But where did comedy Sam go?” Samantha responded with a grin, saying, “Comedy Sam… controversial Sam. She went to sleep; good night.” This comment added a touch of humor, showing that Samantha was in on the joke and was enjoying the playful exchange as much as the audience was.

Though Rana and Samantha only shared screen space once in the 2016 Tamil film Bangalore Naatkal, where Samantha made a cameo, their bond seems to be one of mutual respect and friendly teasing. Rana’s comments and Samantha’s witty responses highlighted the easy rapport they share, which is often seen in their interactions.

In addition to their fun exchange at the awards ceremony, Samantha is busy with her career, looking forward to the release of her new Prime Video series *Citadel: Honey Bunny*, which will start streaming on November 7, 2024. Fans of both stars are excited to see what’s next for them on screen, as their off-screen chemistry is just as engaging as their work in films and series.
