Parineeti Chopra calls husband Raghav Chadha a 'Star' for addressing film piracy in Rajya Sabha

Parineeti Chopra recently praised her husband, AAP politician Raghav Chadha, for addressing the pressing issue of film piracy in the Parliament.

It appears that Raghav's marriage to an actor is influencing his political endeavors, as noted by Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar, who acknowledged this connection humorously.

Raghav raised the concern of film piracy during a speech in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting its detrimental impact on the cinema and OTT industries.

He stated, "Piracy is a plague that's all-pervasive, not just in the cinema industry today, but also in the OTT platform world. Piracy and unauthorised reproduction of copyright content has led to an annual loss of ₹20,000 crore in the film industry and the OTT industry. There has been a 62% increase in piracy incidents during the pandemic alone."

Raghav urged the government to amend the Cinematography Bill or establish a new mechanism to combat piracy on OTT platforms, emphasizing the significant loss of artists' hard work due to unauthorized reproduction.

Following his speech, Chairperson Dhankhar remarked, "He knows much about the film industry. Off late, he's gained experience," eliciting laughter.

Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, seated next to Raghav, gave him a shoutout, and Dhankhar added, "Jaya ji has been diligent ever since she entered that silver screen. It's because of her that the question has been rationally worded."

When Raghav sought permission to respond, Dhankhar humorously advised, "Never clarify when you get endorsement from a legend," to which Jaya smiled in acknowledgment.

Parineeti took to Instagram Stories to share a video of Raghav's speech, captioning it, "You're a star for raising this important issue in Parliament, my love."

The internet was quick to point out the influence of Parineeti on Raghav's choice of topic. Comments included, “Ladki ka chakkar Babu bhaiya #parineetichopra” and “Ye sawal wife ke taraf se aya hai.”

Parineeti, last seen in the Netflix India film "Amar Singh Chamkila," married Raghav last year.
