In a deeply unsettling incident that has reignited concerns around gender-based violence in Pakistan, popular TikTok content creator Sumeera Rajput was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in the Ghotki district of Sindh province.
Early reports indicate that the 36-year-old may have been poisoned by individuals allegedly attempting to coerce her into a forced marriage.
According to Geo News, Rajput’s 15-year-old daughter — herself a TikTok content creator — has come forward with serious allegations. She claimed, “The suspects gave poisonous tablets to Sumeera, which led to her death.”
The daughter’s statement has sent shockwaves across both social media and women’s rights communities, intensifying scrutiny over the alarming rise in threats faced by female influencers in Pakistan.
Authorities have since taken two individuals into custody: Babu Rajput and Muhammad Imran. While an investigation is underway, police have not yet registered a First Information Report (FIR), a move that has drawn criticism from activists demanding swift justice.
Ghotki District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh confirmed the daughter’s claim and added that investigations were ongoing to determine the full scope of the incident. Meanwhile, Ghotki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Anwar Khetran stated, “A post-mortem of Sameera Rajput has been conducted, which has revealed that she died because of poisoning.”
Sumeera had built a dedicated following on TikTok, amassing 58,000 followers and more than one million likes across her videos. Her death comes just weeks after another tragic incident — the killing of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf in Islamabad.
