In the IPL season, cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer will be the guests in the second episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, on April 6, Saturday, at 8 pm, on Netflix.

On the occasion of Kapil Sharma’s 42nd birthday on April 2 and the ongoing Indian Premiere League (IPL), the makers of The Great Indian Kapil Show unveiled the promo of its second episode, featuring Indian cricket players Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Filled with hilarious revelations and witty one-liners, the promo promises a laugh riot in the new episode, which is all set to release on April 6, 2024.

The makers captioned their promo post on social media as, “Sharma ji aur Iyer ji ki yeh innings toh sabko hasayegi. Dekhna na bhoole #TheGreatIndianKapilShow Episode 2 is Saturday at 8 pm sirf Netflix par! (This inning of Iyer and Sharma is sure to make you laugh out loud. Popular comedian Kapil Sharma and his freshly dropped show on Netflix stays ahead in the trending race. Kapil Sharma made his OTT debut with The Great Indian Kapil Show this Saturday, and the show marked the return of comedian Sunil Grover.

Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma had parted ways in previous editions. The first episode saw such guests as Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, along with his actress-mother Neetu Kapoor and sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Sunil Grover and Ranbir Kapoor shared a comical romance chemistry in the show.

So, who’s next? Taking to social media, the makers of The Great Indian Kapil Show unveiled the promo of the second episode, featuring Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. The promo begins with the audience chanting ‘India! India!’, followed by the duo’s dance performance on stage with cheerleaders.

The promo gives a sneak peek of Krushna Abhishek’s skit as a nurse who can’t help but feel shy upon seeing the duo on stage. Later, Kapil asks Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, if he has ever gotten mad at someone on the field, and Rohit replies, “What can I do? Kapil Sharma mimics Navjot Singh Sidhu

Kapil Sharma shared a new reel on his social media account. Kapil Sharma portrayed Navjot Singh Sidhu as Kiku Sharda dressed as a cricketer. Kiku questions Kapil, “Sidhu paaji, hum bhi cricket khelna chahate hai.” I want to play cricket and earn money.

Kapil Sharma in responds, in Sidhu’s voice, “Maine kaha, main aise tarkeeb bataunga ki ghar baithe baithe mobile se paise kama sakta hai (I’ll tell you the trick to earn money, while sitting at home, by using your phone).” Kiku eagerly asks, “Kaise (How)?”, to which Kapil quips, “Mobile bech ke (By selling your phone).” The video’s description said “Guess the next celebrity for #the greatindiankapilshow #ipl #iplfever #cricket.”

The highlight of the promo was Kapil imitating former cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu on stage. The comedian mimics his style which is sure to tickle the audience’s funny bone.

By going this mainstream, getting popular TV shows on an OTT platform, this is, perhaps, Netflix's biggest bet on growing its reach, audience base/viewership, revenues and business. The Great India Kapil Show releases a new episode every Saturday at 8 pm on Netflix. Kapil Sharma had earlier hosted popular television shows The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Nights with Kapil.
