Every heartbreak leaves a mark, and Shahid Kapoor's breakup with Kareena Kapoor was no different.
Their breakup became the talk of the town after they were once one of Bollywood's most beloved couples. Shahid acknowledged that it was difficult to watch Kareena move on after she started dating Saif Ali Khan, particularly in the constant spotlight.
Shahid gave a rare glimpse into his vulnerable side when he talked candidly about how deeply the situation affected him in a throwback interview with Bombay Times.
“It will be dishonest to say that this doesn't affect me. I am human, it hurts to see and read this all the time. I guess I have no choice but to live and deal with it. I'll cherish the good memories of that relationship and move on. That's what I'm doing — looking at the positive side and trying to be happy.”
Over the years, he rebuilt his life and found love again — marrying Mira Rajput in 2015.
The couple is one of Bollywood's most respected and grounded couples. They currently have two kids, Misha and Zain.
It's interesting to note that Shahid and Kareena recently made headlines once more with their touching reunion at IIFA 2025, almost twenty years later.
A wave of nostalgia for their Jab We Met days was sparked when fans saw the ex-couple embrace and converse openly during the press conference.
The video of their interaction quickly went viral, with fans celebrating the maturity and warmth both stars displayed.
When asked about the reunion on the IIFA green carpet, Shahid handled it with his signature composure, saying:
“For us, it's nothing new... aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte (today we met on stage but we keep running into each other here and there)... but it's totally normal for us... if people felt nice, it's nice.”
Kareena, on the other hand tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan in 2012, and the couple are proud parents to two sons, Taimur and Jeh. Meanwhile, Shahid continues to balance a thriving career with a happy family life.
