Nancy Tyagi has been making headlines ever since she debuted on the red carpet of the 77th Cannes Film Festival. She recently revealed that idea of committing suicide was looming over her for a while.
Nancy Tyagi, who is from Uttar Pradesh, sat down for a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast and spoke about the financial struggles that her family faced.
“Marne ka bhi aaya tha vichar. Abhi kya ho raha hai ki school bhi jaana hai, fees bhi bharni hai. 6-7 hazaar me kya hota hai mahine me? Kuch nahi hota. Zehar aa jata hai utne me. (I even thought of dying. I had to go to school and pay the fees. What can you do with ₹ 6,000-Rs 7,000 a month? Nothing happens with that amount. You can barely get poison for that much.),” she said.
The self taught fashion designer also spoke about how being invited to the festival changed her life. She was able to stop her mother from working in a factory. She revealed that she used to fear something bad happening to her mother because they used to hear stories of people getting injured working in the factory.
Tyagi spoke about her father initially stopping her from going to Cannes. He told her that the house is functioning properly right now so there isn’t any need for you to go so far away.
Tyagi’s mother cut her father off and told him “Aapse pooch nahi rahe hai. Bata rahe hai ki who jaa rahi hai. (We are not asking you, we are telling you that she is going.)”
The internet personality, when asked about her future plans, said that she wants to focus on creating her own designs. She doesn’t want to recreate or copy designs anymore.
“Mere khud ke designs ki alag value hai. (My designs have their own value.)”
