Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-awaited supernatural drama Thamma finally hit theatres on October 21, 2025, and has opened to an impressive response from audiences across the country.

Industry trade reports state that Thamma's first day of sales brought in Rs 24 crore (India net), establishing a strong start to its theatrical run.

The movie had a 34.50% overall Hindi occupancy rate in theatres on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The data indicated strong audience engagement by the occupancy, which increased steadily throughout the day from 15.76% for the morning shows to 39.81% in the afternoon, 42.91% in the evening, and 39.50% for the night shows.

However, compared to Stree 2, the previous installment in Maddock Films' well-liked Horror Comedy Universe, which made an impressive Rs 35 crore debut last year, Thamma's opening numbers were marginally lower. Thamma appears to have found its audience in spite of this, and it is beginning to run steadily.

Thamma, which was released with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, seems to have little to no competition at the box office. While Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the last big Hindi release, had to compete with the Kannada blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1, Thamma has a comparatively clear window.

Taking to social media, Rashmika recently expressed her gratitude and penned a long note about her journey with Thamma. Rashmika took to social media and wrote, "Thamma...Ahh… where do I even begin...From the very first call-sheet to the final cut, this film has been more than just work.. it’s been a journey of heart, of grit, of laughter and bruises and mornings we didn’t want to wake up for and nights we didn’t want to end," a part of her long post read.

Thamma explores the sinister yet fascinating world of vampires and is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, following Stree, Bhediya, Roohi, and Munjya. The film centres on Ayushmann Khurrana's character, a man who inexplicably turns into a vampire, and how his new life complicates his romance with Rashmika Mandanna's character.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma combines Maddock’s trademark mix of humour, horror, and emotion, and its strong opening day collections suggest that it is well on its way to becoming another hit in the studio’s expanding cinematic universe.
