Childish Gambino has unveiled his latest and ultimate album titled 'Bando Stone & The New World,' slated for release on July 19.
Accompanying the album's debut is the lead single 'Lithonia,' named after a town near Atlanta where his television series is based. Departing from his usual style, 'Lithonia' explores new sonic dimensions with robust guitar riffs and reverberating vocals.
The album reveal closely follows Gambino's premiere of the film trailer for 'Bando Stone & The New World' at the BET Awards. In the film, Gambino stars as the eponymous character navigating a desolate realm, encountering a mother and her son as they struggle against a dystopian backdrop teeming with colossal squids and ominous emu-like birds.
Adding an interactive twist, Gambino will host an exclusive first listen event for 'Bando Stone & The New World' on July 6 at New York City's Little Island, promising an immersive experience for attendees. Tickets for this event go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET.
In anticipation of this transformative phase in his career, Gambino is gearing up for the New World Tour, set to commence on August 11 in Oklahoma City, OK. The tour will traverse major U.S. cities including Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Chicago, before venturing overseas to captivate audiences across Europe and Australia. Joining him on this musical journey will be Willow and Aamarae, set to provide support throughout the tour.
Gambino initially hinted at his final two albums back in April during a discussion about his Gilga project. The first of these albums, a reworked edition of his surprise drop '3.15.20,' was released in May under its original title, 'Atavista.' This series of announcements marks a pivotal moment as Gambino bids farewell to his Childish Gambino persona with an ambitious and eclectic exploration of new artistic realms.
