Tahira Kashyap opened up about the dynamics of managing household chores with her husband, the popular Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana during an interview with TOI.
Known for her frankness and wit, Tahira shared a glimpse of their domestic life and the mutual understanding that keeps their household running smoothly, even with their demanding careers.
Tahira, who has recently directed her first feature film "Sharmajee Ki Beti," mentioned a particular moment in her film that mirrors her real-life experience. In the movie, Sakshi Tanwar's character, a teacher, asks her husband, played by Sharib Hashmi, to help with household chores as she is running late for work. This scene, Tahira revealed, is inspired by her own life with Ayushmann.
Reflecting on this, Tahira humorously said, "Ayushmann has to be home in the first place to help in chores. For that, he needs to be at home also, honestly main bhi na gas on nahi kar pate hoon, so usko kya hi bolu (Even I can't switch on the gas, what do I say)." This light-hearted comment underscores the everyday struggles and the playful yet practical understanding they share.
Tahira elaborated on how they manage their roles, especially when Ayushmann's work demands keep him away from home. She explained, "But I think whatever roles we have taken up, there is a mutual understanding. Like if we are traveling, and I am doing research on the place, then he has to figure out the logistics. So it's basically an unsaid way we have found for dealing with life and with kids."
The mutual respect and support they offer each other extend to their children as well. Tahira shared a heartwarming anecdote about their kids' reactions after watching her film. She said, "They came for the screening and were my biggest cheerleaders. They were shouting from behind, and I was like guys, stop it, they were very happy. I think they have seen their mother struggle for the last 7 years, and they have seen how passionate I have been, and how I have been hustling, so they know the BTS behind all of this, so they really loved the film."
This glimpse into their life not only highlights the challenges faced by celebrity couples but also showcases the deep bond and understanding that Tahira and Ayushmann share. Their approach to managing household responsibilities, despite their busy schedules, offers a relatable narrative for many couples juggling careers and family life.
Tahira's journey to becoming a feature film director has been marked by perseverance and passion. After directing short segments, she made her debut with "Sharmajee Ki Beti," which stars Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, Sharib Hashmi, and Saiyami Kher. The film, praised for its relatable storytelling and close observation of life's nuances, reflects Tahira's keen eye and empathetic direction.
In the interview, Tahira also touched upon the support system they have built over the years. She mentioned how, despite the demanding nature of their professions, they have managed to create a balance. This balance is not just about managing chores but also about understanding and supporting each other's dreams and aspirations.
Tahira's candidness about her domestic life and her humorous take on everyday challenges resonate with many. It highlights the importance of partnership and mutual support in managing both personal and professional lives.
