Jordan Peele has set his eyes on a another project which will be releasing in the Halloween season of 2026.
Given that the sui generis auteur has a predilection for horror movies, as seen with his three other projects since his debut with “Get Out” (2017), it makes total sense why he chose Halloween for it’s release date.

The Oscar-winning director’s fourth film is now set to premiere on October 23, 2026. This marks a significant shift from its initially scheduled release date of December 25, 2024, which had been announced in March 2023. Production was severely impacted by the WGA strike in May and the subsequent SAG-AFTRA strike in July, leading to an industry-wide halt. Consequently, Universal removed the film from its schedule, and Peele later revealed the new release date via social media.
Details about the film are scarce, with no information available on the plot or cast. However, Peele did touch on the project briefly during an appearance on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast on January 1.
“I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” Peele said.
After his breakout hit "Get Out," Peele continued his success with 2019’s "Us" ($256.2 million) and 2022’s "Nope" ($171.2 million). He will produce this upcoming film under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. As a producer, Peele has several projects lined up, including the Marlon Wayans-starring "Him," set for release this September.
In a time when attracting audiences to theaters is increasingly challenging, Peele stands out as a director whose name alone draws crowds. Horror being one of the few genres that reliably performs well at the box office, Peele has owned that genre as his with his unique style.
Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has also been a significant force in both film and television. The company has produced acclaimed movies such as 2018’s "BlacKkKlansman," 2021’s "Candyman," and the 2022 animated film "Wendell & Wild," which Peele co-wrote with director Henry Selick. In television, Monkeypaw has produced series like Amazon’s "Hunters" and HBO’s "Lovecraft Country." Recently, Peele supported Dev Patel’s directorial debut, "Monkey Man," as a producer and played a key role in securing Universal’s acquisition of the project from Netflix.
Jordan Peele’s upcoming film was originally slated for a December 25, 2024 release. However, the Hollywood calendar has been thrown into disarray by the simultaneous writers' and actors' strikes. As a result, Focus Features, a subsidiary of Universal, has now scheduled Robert Eggers' "Nosferatu" for that date. On Monday, Peele hinted at the new release date on X.
