Despite predominantly negative reviews, Kamal Haasan's "Indian 2" had a decent opening at the box office. However, its collections have been on a downward trend since then, failing to maintain momentum after its initial weekend.
According to Sacnilk, the film garnered Rs 15.1 crore on Sunday, pushing its total domestic earnings to Rs 58.9 crore. The revenue breakdown includes Rs 41.2 crore from the Tamil version, Rs 13.9 crore from the Telugu version, and Rs 3.8 crore from the Hindi version. While the Hindi version's earnings have remained stable, the Tamil version's revenue has consistently dropped since the film's release. "Indian 2" started strong with Rs 25.6 crore but saw a 28.91% drop on Saturday, bringing in Rs 18.2 crore, followed by a 17.03% decline on Sunday.
"Indian 2," directed by Shankar, is a sequel to the 1996 film "Indian" with Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Senapathy. The film faced stiff competition from Sudha Kongara’s "Sarfira," a remake of her award-winning Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru," starring Akshay Kumar. Despite positive reviews, "Sarfira" struggled initially, opening with Rs 2.5 crore but improved over three days to reach Rs 11.85 crore.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan’s other film, "Kalki 2898 AD," which enjoyed a strong first week, is also experiencing a slowdown. Early estimates by Sacnilk indicate it earned Rs 16.25 crore on Sunday, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs 579.97 crore.
