Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee lost her daughter Payal in 2019, whom she shared with her husband, Jayant Mukherjee. The actress endured the heartbreaking loss and has recently recalled shocking details following her daughter’s death.

During a recent conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit, Moushumi Chatterjee addressed the rumours about her not visiting the hospital following her daughter’s death. She revealed that Payal’s body was kept in the morgue because of the hospital’s unpaid bills.

She recalled the painful experience and noted that the moment showed the reality of people in tough times. Moushumi Chatterjee shared, “I went to the hospital when she was no more. She was kept in a morgue because the hospital’s bill wasn’t paid. I took all that nonsense.”

She added, “We can’t get over this grief. When a child dies, nobody can get over that. Payal was very motherly to Megha because they had an eight-year age gap.”

The actress also claimed that she and her husband still didn’t get over the pain and noted, “I don’t think my husband has completely gotten over Payal’s death. I am also not over it. This vacuum will be there throughout our lives.”

The veteran actress further expressed that going to court was agonizing for her as she wanted to be with her ailing daughter. She also revealed that her younger daughter, Megha Chatterjee, and her husband faced mistreatment and humiliation at the hands of Payal's in-laws.

For the unversed, Moushumi Chatterjee had a strained relationship with her former son-in-law and Payal’s husband, Dicky Sinha, reportedly because of business matters.

Moushumi approached the court in 2018 requesting to become Payal’s legal guardian. The actress claimed in court that her daughter was not getting proper medical care at her in-laws' house. She also claimed she was not allowed to visit her daughter during the tough times.

Payal died at the age of 45 after battling a prolonged illness. She was dealing with diabetes and was in a coma for two years before her death.
