In the wake of Kanye West’s latest controversy, the rapper, also known as Ye, has been dropped by his talent agency due to his antisemitic remarks and controversial merchandise on his Yeezy website.
Daniel McCartney, an agent at 33&West, took to Instagram to announce the decision, emphasizing that the agency could not support West’s "harmful and hateful remarks."
“Effective immediately, I'm no longer representing Ye (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his recent hateful and harmful remarks that myself not 33&West can stand for,” McCartney wrote before signing off with “Peace and Love to all.”
Kanye West’s troubles escalated as he unleashed a series of antisemitic posts on X (formerly Twitter), including inflammatory statements like “IM A NAZI” and “I will never apologize for my Jewish comments.” The backlash against his remarks intensified, leading to further consequences for his brand.
The controversy surrounding Kanye West intensified after he ran a Super Bowl ad in the Los Angeles area promoting Yeezy.com. The ad, filmed on an iPhone, featured West sitting in a dentist’s chair, stating that he had spent all his money on dental work and had to create the commercial himself. However, the real shock came when viewers visited the website, only to find a single item available for sale—a $20 white T-shirt emblazoned with a black swastika.
In the wake of the controversy, West’s Yeezy website was taken down, leaving visitors with a blank screen and an error message stating, "Something went wrong. This store is unavailable." Shopify, the e-commerce platform hosting the Yeezy store, confirmed its removal, citing violations of company policies. In a statement, Shopify emphasized that all merchants must adhere to their guidelines, stating, “This merchant failed to engage in authentic commerce practices and breached our terms.”
Amid growing backlash over his antisemitic remarks, West's X (formerly Twitter) account has now been deactivated. His inflammatory statements and recent actions have kept him at the center of controversy, drawing widespread condemnation from various quarters.
