Kannada actress Ranya Rao's husband Jatin Hukkeri to file for divorce amidst gold smuggling case

The gold smuggling case has not only put actress Ranya Rao under scrutiny but has also drawn attention to her husband, Jatin.

Kannada actress Ranya Rao has been in the headlines for quite some time now after she was arrested in gold smuggling case. As per latest reports, her husband Jatin Hukkeri has revealed that he will file for divorce from the actress.

Speaking at a press conference, Jatin recently shared, "Since the day we got married, I have been enduring pain and distress. Today, I have made the decision to file for divorce."

The gold smuggling case has not only put actress Ranya Rao under scrutiny but has also drawn attention to her husband, Jatin. Authorities claim he frequently accompanied her on trips to Dubai, where she allegedly smuggled gold.

Reports suggest that tensions had been brewing between the couple for a while, leading to Jatin gradually distancing himself from Ranya. Now, he has taken the definitive step of legally ending their marriage.

Ranya and Jatin had tied the knot in a grand ceremony at Taj West End on November 27, 2024, before settling in Bengaluru. Jatin, an architect by profession, was married to Ranya, who is the stepdaughter of Ramachandra Rao, the Director General of Police at the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation.

For those unaware, Ranya Rao had been on the authorities' radar due to her frequent trips to Dubai. Reports suggest she visited the city 30 times over the past year, including four trips in just 15 days, allegedly smuggling kilos of gold each time. Her activities led to her arrest at Bengaluru airport in March this year.

Following her detention, the Bengaluru Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted raids at her residence, seizing gold jewelry worth Rs 2.06 crore and Rs 2.67 crore in cash.
