Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in her recent social media post has slammed the obsession with fair skin in the world of showbiz. She further wrote that all the Indian actresses ‘look pale’, just like white women.
She made a post talking about how young dusky girl Monalisa has become a rage in the ongoing Maha Kumbh and then further lamented the fact that there are hardly any dusky beauties in the movie world.
In her post on Instagram, Kangana further mentioned that she is happy that dusky beauty Monalisa in Maha Kumbh has become a sensation but rued the fact that the girl is being harassed for pictures.
She then talked about the absence of any dark dusky Indian tone girls like Kajol, Anu Agarwal, Deepika or Rani in the Hindi film industry nowadays.
Sharing a picture of Monalisa, Kangana wrote: “This young girl Monalisa has become an internet sensation for her natural beauty, as much as I hate people harassing her for pictures and interviews I can't help but think do we have dark dusky Indian tone female representation in glamour world anymore? Are people loving young actresses how they loved Anu Agarwal, Kajol, Bipasha, Deepika or Rani Mukerji?”
Talking about Monalisa aka Moni Bhonsle, she was spotted by onlookers and vloggers at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagra. The young garland seller from Indore became an internet sensation overnight.
Now the girl has returned to her home town Indore as she was being harrassed by men in the Maha Kumbh. She took to her X and wrote: “Parivar aur apni suraksha ke liye mujhe wapas Indore jana pad raha hai, ho sakta to agle saahi snaan tak wapas milte hain, Prayagraj Mahakumbh mein. Sabhi ke sahyog aur pyaar ke liye dil se dhanyavaad."
In a video that has now gone viral, Monalisa is seen in a red salwar as a crowd approaches her, eager to take selfies. She was also seen wearing mask while she was in Maha Kumbh to avoid unwanted attention.
Talking about Kangana, she was last seen in her directorial venture Emergency. She portrayed the role of late former prime minister Indira Gandhi in the biographical political thriller, which details the final few years of her tenure, showing the Emergency and Operation Bluestar.
The film was released in theatres on January 17.
