Renowned for raising awareness of significant issues, Janhvi Kapoor has once again addressed the casual disregard that some men have for menstrual pain. She criticised their "condescending gaze and tone" in a recent interview, pointing out that many men downplay the intensity of menstrual pain and that most of them probably couldn't manage it on their own.

Speaking to Hauterrfly, Janhvi shed light on how period pain and hormonal fluctuations are often trivialised in everyday conversations, especially when women try to express their opinions or emotions.

“Agar main jhagda karne ki koshish kar rahi hu ya meri point ko saamne rakhne ki koshish kar rahi hu aur aap bolte ho, ‘Is it that time of the month?’ then, like, take a hike,” she stated candidly.

However, she clarified that she welcomes genuine concern when shown with empathy. “But agar aap sach mein humdardi dikha rahe ho, ki ‘Do you need a minute, is it that time of the month?’ then yeah, more often than not, you do need a minute, because the way our hormones are off the charts, the pain we go through, that genuine consideration is always welcome.”

Janhvi continued by addressing the underlying sexism in how some men approach the subject of menstruation. “But that condescending gaze and tone is… because I assure you, men won’t be able to bear this pain and mood swings for even a minute. Pata nahi kaunsa nuclear war ho jaata agar mardon ko periods hote.” Her bold comments resonated with many women online, earning widespread support across social media platforms.
