Mohanlal once again proves how talented he is by quickly moving to a softer, more emotional character.

Hridayapoorvam, a family movie starring Mohanlal, a well-known Malayalam actor, came out in theaters on August 28, 2025. The movie was directed by Sathyan Anthikad, who is a well-known director. Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap play major roles in it. The movie is a touching and funny drama with some funny and nostalgic parts.

The Plot

Sandeep Balakrishnan (Mohanlal) is a man in his 40s who is doing better after having a heart transplant. The movie tells the story of his travels. Sandeep flies to Pune to see Haritha (Malavika Mohanan) get engaged. She is the daughter of the man who gave him his heart. But things happen that he didn't expect, and he ends up staying longer, where he builds significant emotional attachments with Haritha and her family. Sandeep's view on life changes because of these partnerships.

What worked

Like the Mohanlal–Sathyan Anthikad tradition, Hridayapoorvam tells a thorough and honest account. Mohanlal's portrayal of Sandeep is profound, caring, and very real. It talks about being alone, being accepted, and feeling better. Their friendship with Sangeeth Prathap's character, Jerry, lends warmth and humour to the story, making their bromance one of the best portions.

Malavika Mohanan and Sangita Nair also make things more enjoyable, and Anthikad's unique style of feel-good storytelling shines through. Justin Prabhakaran's music complements the mood, and the photography and carefully planned costume design keep the tone real and fun.

What did not

The first part of the movie moves at a slow pace slowly, and the gags don't always work before the story picks up speed. Some of the one-liners seem to repeat themselves, and the tale may have been better if it had been cut down more in the first half. Once the emotional core comes in, Hridayapoorvam finds its rhythm.

Mohanlal  once again proves how talented he is by quickly moving to a softer, more emotional character. Sangeeth Prathap, riding high on his triumph from Premalu, is a revelation, with hilarious timing and depth that almost steals the show. Malavika Mohanan, on the other hand, keeps getting better as a performer and can keep up with the famous person.
