Shailesh Lodha, who played the beloved character Taarak Mehta in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, was a significant part of the show from its inception in 2008.
The show has aired over 4178 episodes, making it one of Indian television's longest running and most loved series.
Over time, much of the original cast, except for a few like Dilip Joshi, was replaced. Shailesh gained immense popularity alongside lead actors Disha Vakani and Joshi, becoming an integral part of the show.
According to reports, Shailesh’s final appearance was in episode number 3454, after which he exited the show due to creative and financial differences with the producer, Asit Kumarr Modi.
There has been speculation about Shailesh Shailesh's total earnings from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Many have claimed that Shailesh earned around approx Rs 51 crore for his role over 3454 episodes. However, this figure seems exaggerated.
When Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah began in 2008, Shailesh reportedly earned approx. Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 per episode. By 2015, after about 1500 episodes, his fee increased to ₹1 lakh per episode. He continued at this rate until approximately episode 2635.

During this period, he likely earned around approx. Rs 10 crore. In 2019, his paycheck reportedly increased again to approx. Rs 1.5 lakh per episode, and for the remaining 819 episodes until episode 3454, his earnings amounted to approx. Rs12.28 crore.
In total, across three distinct pay periods, Shailesh's earnings from the show are estimated to be around approx. Rs 28.98 crore.
However, given the nature of television contracts, where actors are often paid per day of shooting rather than per episode, Shailesh’s actual earnings are estimated at approximately approx. Rs.22 crore based on the days he worked before leaving the show in April 2022. While still impressive, this figure is more realistic than the inflated speculated amount.
