In a recent letter to Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda, Vijayalakshmi, the wife of jailed superstar Darshan, clarified her legal marital status with the actor, stating that she is his only legally wedded wife. This correspondence was prompted by the police mistakenly referring to Pavithra Gowda as Darshan's wife, a claim that Vijayalakshmi firmly disputed.

In her letter, Vijayalakshmi emphasized, "You made a wrong statement during a press conference, saying Pavithra Gowda is Darshan's wife. This error was repeated by the Karnataka Home Minister and national media, reporting that the Darshan couple was arrested in the Renukaswamy murder case." She requested the police commissioner to correct this misinformation in the police records, as it could cause future trouble for her and her son Vineesh.
The issue arose from a high-profile case in which Darshan, along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was arrested on charges of murdering Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old resident of Chitradurga. The investigation revealed that Renukaswamy, a big fan of Darshan, had sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda on social media. He was allegedly kidnapped, brought to Bengaluru, kept in a shed, and tortured to death.
Vijayalakshmi pointed out in her letter that Pavithra Gowda was married to Sanjay Singh and had a daughter with him. She stated, "I have full faith in the judiciary and believe the law will take its course. While it is true that Pavithra Gowda is a friend of my husband, she is not his wife. I am the only legally wedded wife of Darshan, and our marriage took place at Dharmasthala (Hindu pilgrimage centre) on May 19, 2003."
Vijayalakshmi's letter aims to set the record straight and protect her and her son from any adverse consequences arising from the incorrect association of Pavithra Gowda with her husband. She stressed the importance of accurately recording these facts in police records to avoid any future complications.
As the legal proceedings continue, Darshan remains in Bengaluru prison, with his judicial custody set to end on July 4. The case has drawn significant media attention, further highlighting the need for accurate reporting and clarity in legal documents.
