In the realm of Indian television, few shows have managed to capture the audience's imagination quite like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). Running for over 15 years, the show has been a staple of Indian households, providing endless entertainment and becoming an integral part of viewers' daily lives.

Over the years, the cast has seen several changes, with new actors stepping into iconic roles, adding fresh dimensions to beloved characters. One such significant change has been in the character of Tapu, originally played by Bhavya Gandhi, succeeded by Raj Anadkat, and now portrayed by Nitish Bhaluni.

Bhavya Gandhi, who commenced his journey with TMKOC in 2008 as the original Tapu, quickly became one of the highest-paid child actors in Indian television. His portrayal of Tapu garnered widespread appreciation, and at his peak, reportedly Bhavya earned Rs 10,000 per episode, a considerable amount for a child artist.

His tenure lasted until 2017, when he decided to bid adieu to the character and pursue other acting opportunities, leaving a void that needed to be filled with equal charisma and talent.

Enter Raj Anadkat in 2017, who took over the mantle of Tapu. Stepping into an already popular and established role was no easy feat, but Raj managed to leave his mark, bringing his unique charm to the character. His compensation reflected the importance of the role within the show, with reports indicating that he earned Rs 20,000 per episode—double what Bhavya Gandhi earned. This substantial increase underscored the show's ongoing success and the pivotal role Tapu played in its narrative. Raj continued to entertain the audience until 2022, after which he decided to explore new genres and acting roles. His departure also came amidst reports of disagreements with the production team over unpaid dues.

In 2023, the responsibility of carrying forward the legacy of Tapu fell on Nitish Bhaluni. With big shoes to fill, Nitish stepped into the character, bringing his interpretation to the beloved role. According to reports, Nitish's salary matches that of his predecessor, Raj Anadkat, at Rs 20,000 per episode. This parity in compensation highlights the show's commitment to maintaining the high standards set by previous actors and the importance of the character in TMKOC's storytelling. Despite the changes, the show's ability to retain its audience and continue its successful run speaks volumes about its quality and the talent of its cast and crew.

"Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah" has indeed stood the test of time, with its narrative evolving with new actors and storylines while keeping the essence of the show intact. The character of Tapu, a central figure in the Gokuldham Society, has seen a significant evolution through Bhavya Gandhi, Raj Anadkat, and now Nitish Bhaluni, each bringing their flair and adding to the legacy of the show.
