Director Jiaozi’s Ne Zha 2, the record-shattering Chinese animated film, is gearing up for its India release this summer. Made on a massive $80 million budget, the film grossed over $2 billion globally, surpassing Inside Out 2 to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Encore Films and Warner Bros. Discovery, India, have officially confirmed that Ne Zha 2 will premiere in theaters on April 25.
The film will be available in its original Mandarin language, accompanied by English subtitles.
The official synopsis of the film reads as, “Following the divine lightning strike, Ne Zha and Ao Bing, though surviving as Spirits, face the imminent threat of complete dissipation. In an effort to restore them, Taiyi embarks on a mission to reconstruct their mortal bodies using the powerful Seven-colored Precious Lotus. However, the process is far from smooth, as unforeseen challenges and formidable obstacles arise, testing their fate and resilience.”

Ne Zha 2 has made history as the first animated film to surpass the $2 billion milestone, cementing its place as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time. Since its release on January 29 this year, the film has received widespread critical acclaim and achieved remarkable box office success.
