Internet reacts to Mexico’s Fátima Bosch winning Miss Universe 2025, fans say it was ‘damage control’ after she walked out on organisers

Miss Universe 2025 winner: Controversy doesn’t seem to be ending for Miss Universe 2025 even after crowning Mexico’s Fátima Bosch. Many are taking to the internet to call her an undeserving winner and suggesting that she won the title as part of ‘damage control’ after she walked out on organisers ahead of the main event.

The run-up to the Miss Universe 2025 pageant was mired in controversy, and it doesn’t seem to stop even after Mexico’s Fátima Bosch has been crowned with the prestigious title. Many internet users expressed their dissatisfaction with the results, and some even suggested it is due to the political conflict between the organisers.

For the unversed, ever since the change of leadership, there has been strife between the Miss Universe Organisation and the Vice President of Miss Universe for the Asiana region, Nawat Itsaragrisil. Things particularly went downhill after Bosch walked out on Nawat for calling her a “dumb head” during a livestream event.

Internet calls Fátima Bosch an undeserving winner

With Bosch being crowned the winner, many felt this was solely done for “business interests.” They felt it was an attempt to fix things and that she truly didn’t deserve the win.

“Mexico’s victory was driven by business interests. There was a conflict between her and Nawat, and it seems like both sides tried to fix things behind the scenes. They may have agreed to let Mexico win. But it’s obvious she wasn’t the real winner,” a user wrote on X.

Another called it an attempt at “damage control,” saying, “Mexico did not deserve that. That was all sympathy and payola. That was an apology from the owners. Damage control for what Nawat did to Miss Mexico. Horrible, horrible, horrible.”

Calling the competition rigged, a user shared, “Miss Universe 2018 was really the last genuine and authentic edition. The Top 3 played, and the Universe celebrated. I’m sad we won’t be seeing that kind of edition again, as corruption and abuse of power are everywhere. Miss Universe is rigged.”

Several other users shared that the Miss Universe Organisation only wanted to save face after being publicly slammed by Bosch herself and after the support she garnered from the general public. They felt the other contestants gave much better answers than her.

Fátima Bosch controversy

After she walked out on Nawat, Bosch spoke to the media outside and said, “I love Thailand. I respect your people and your culture deeply,” she said. “But what your director just did was not respectful. He called me dumb because he has issues with the organisation. That’s not fair. I’m here doing my best, being kind to everyone. He just attacked me and told me to shut up. The world needs to see this because we are empowered women, and no one should silence our voices.”

The next day, Nawat apologised on his social media account and said, “If anyone feels bad, uncomfortable, or affected, I apologise to everyone. I especially apologise to the girls who were present, around 75 of them.”
