Lee Chae Min opened up about the finale of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and hinted at the possibility of a second season.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is a fantasy period drama that follows a chef who travels back in time to her prime and crosses paths with a tyrant king gifted with an extraordinary sense of taste.

Lee Chae Min portrayed Lee Heon, a royal prince resolute in seeking the truth about his mother’s death.

As quoted by Allkpop, Lee Chae Min shared, "Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real that it’s over, and I think the lingering emotions are still with me. When a project ends, I usually feel both regretful and relieved, but this time, since the drama did so well and received so much love, I feel proud. Many people come to mind whom I want to thank. Overall, I just feel very happy. The project feels like it has left something within me, and the people I worked with have become very precious. I think it’s a project that gave me so much in many ways."

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty wrapped up with a happy ending as Lee Heon makes it back to the present and reunites with Yeon Ji Young (YoonA). However, some viewers felt the conclusion was lacking clarity, criticizing the vague portrayal of how Lee Heon’s return actually happened.

Speaking of the conclusion, Lee Chae Min stated, "I realized there are many different perspectives from viewers. But as someone who acted in it, I truly thought it was beautiful. Since he reunited with Ji Young, I only saw it as something beautiful. Thanks to this, I think my own perspective broadened as well."

Shedding light on the possibility of season 2, Lee Chae said, "I saw reactions like, ‘Will there be a season 2?’ and I thought, that means people really enjoyed it. I did get curious, like, ‘What would it be like if we did season 2?’ I even imagined something like ‘Lee Heon adjusting to modern life.’ But still, I think Lee Heon’s story is meant to end in the historical setting."

According to Nielsen Korea, the finale of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty achieved impressive viewership, scoring a nationwide average rating of 17.1% and peaking at 19.4%. The drama ended on a high, breaking its own record with the final episode.
