Anupam Kher mourns the loss of Piyush Pandey

The Indian creative world continues to mourn the loss of Piyush Pandey, the legendary advertising genius who passed away on 23 October.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who shared a long-standing friendship with Piyush Pandey, posted a moving video on Instagram.

Fighting back tears, he reflected on Piyush Pandey’s unmatched creativity and how his work had become part of India’s cultural identity.

In his post, Kher wrote, “I have spent many years of my life, both good and bad, watching slogans of Piyush Pandey’s Ad Campaigns in television and cinemas. And then all those slogans became an important part of all of our lives! And since they had the same personality! So they became an important part of our lives too! Such lively people actually never leave our life! Yes! Now I will never meet them at the airport, at any function or anywhere else! And they won’t say, ‘Buddy! You look bean to bean for the past so many years! What is the secret of your youth!’ Will regret this thing! Goodbye my friend! Om Shanti!”

In his video, Anupam Kher fondly recalled showing Pandey his upcoming film, Tanvi the Great, before its release.

Sharing Piyush Pandey’s heartfelt reaction, Anupam Kher said he smiled and remarked,
“Dil se banai hui filme dil tak pahunchti hai, iske upar main kya tipdi de sakta hu.”
(“A film made from the heart always reaches the heart — what more can I say about it?”)

Meanwhile, Ila Arun, a celebrated singer and actor, mourned the loss of her brother with a moving social media post. Sharing an old picture of herself applying a tilak to Piyush’s forehead, she wrote,

“Dear loved ones, With a devastated, heartbroken, and lifeless spirit, I am writing to inform you that we have lost our dearest and greatest brother, Piyush Pandey, this morning. Further details will be shared by my brother, Prasoon Pandey. Rest in peace, dear brother.”
