After Vir Das made us proud on the global stage by hosting the 2025 Emmy Awards, it’s now time for another remarkable Indian talent to shine internationally. Anoushka Shankar, the renowned sitar virtuoso and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar, will be hosting the prestigious Grammy Awards this year.
The event is scheduled to take place on February 3rd, from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM IST. This marks another significant milestone for Indian artists making waves in global entertainment, showcasing their talents and bringing a touch of India’s rich musical heritage to the world stage.
Alongside her hosting duties, Anoushka Shankar has earned recognition for her exceptional musical talent with nominations for two of her albums – Ch II: How Dark It is Before Dawn and A Rock Somewhere.
These nominations mark her 10th and 11th Grammy nominations, further cementing her place as a leading figure in global music and showcasing the continued excellence of her work in the industry. It’s an exciting moment for Anoushka, as she not only takes the stage as a host but also as a celebrated artist with multiple Grammy nods.
Anoushka took to Instagram to share her excitement, expressing her immense joy and happiness over the achievements.
She mentioned, "Eeeeeeee I have news! What a thrill to be asked to serve as a presenter at the 67th #GRAMMYPremiere Ceremony this Sunday! The last time I presented was in 2016 - an extraordinary day, not only because I was nominated for my 5th Grammy for my classical album ‘Home,’ but also because I was the first Indian musician ever to present at the ceremony,"
She added, "Although so much has changed (personally and globally) over the last nine years, I find myself once again in the wonderful position of representing India on the global stage."
The 67th edition of the Grammy Awards will also serve as a fundraiser to support efforts for wildfire relief.
As Anoushka Shankar celebrates her Grammy nominations and takes the stage as a presenter, she's also savoring the success of her latest single, 'Hiraeth'. This track marks the first release from her eagerly awaited album, 'Chapter III - We Return To Light'. Over the years, Anoushka has experienced a remarkable rise in her distinguished career as a sitarist, and this year, she celebrates 30 years of transforming the Indian classical music scene. Looking ahead, Anoushka is set to broaden her global reach with a US tour in March 2025, followed by an India tour in December 2025.
