Pushpa 2 stampede

On Wednesday night, a tragic incident occurred outside the Sandhya Theatre at RTC Crossroads during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. A female fan, identified as Revathi, lost her life in a stampede as fans surged towards Allu Arjun, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star. According to reports, Revathi, along with her family, had attended the screening of the highly anticipated film when the chaos unfolded. While she tragically died, her son remains in critical condition.

Revathi was part of a crowd that gathered outside the theatre after the movie screening, where Allu Arjun and the Pushpa 2 team, including actress Rashmika Mandanna and music composer Devi Sri Prasad, were leaving the venue. As fans rushed to get closer to the actor, the situation quickly turned chaotic, leading to the deadly stampede. Revathi was crushed in the surge, and despite immediate efforts to resuscitate her by police officers and bystanders, she succumbed to her injuries. Her son, who was also injured, was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state, later being transferred to a super-speciality hospital for further treatment.

A police officer investigating the incident spoke to The Hindu, providing details about the lack of preparedness for such an event. The officer explained that the police had only been informed about Allu Arjun’s arrival two hours before the event, leaving them little time to organize the necessary crowd control measures. “There was no information about their arrival until two hours before and hence no bandobast was organised. People in large numbers gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor while he was leaving the theatre, leading to the stampede,” said the officer.

Despite the tragic outcome, the officer noted that the police and bystanders did their best to assist the victims in the chaotic aftermath.

The tragic death of Revathi has cast a shadow over the otherwise exciting premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which has been generating immense anticipation. Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 is the sequel to the highly successful Pushpa: The Rise. Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, the daring red sandalwood smuggler, in what promises to be another gripping chapter in the saga. Alongside Arjun, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Srivalli, and Fahadh Faasil, who portrays the antagonist Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat.

The movie's premiere was a star-studded affair, with the presence of Allu Arjun’s wife, Sneha Reddy, and his colleagues. However, the stampede that occurred has cast a dark cloud over the event. While Allu Arjun has yet to comment on the incident, the tragedy serves as a reminder of the challenges that come with the immense popularity of such figures. Fans, eager to witness their favorite celebrities, sometimes find themselves caught in uncontrollable circumstances.
