Veteran Tamil actress Kasammal, aged 71, was allegedly beaten to death by her son P. Namakodi earlier this year. The actress, known for her role as Vijay Sethupathi’s mother in the National Award-winning Tamil film Kadaisi Vivasayi met a tragic end following a heated dispute over money at her residence in Anaiyur, near Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Kasammal was reportedly attacked by her son with a wooden log after she refused to give him money to buy alcohol. This violent altercation, fueled by Namakodi’s drinking habits and financial issues, resulted in the actress’s death on February 4. The police arrested Namakodi following the incident, charging him with murder.

Disturbing Background of the Incident

According to reports, Kasammal and Namakodi had a strained relationship for years. Namakodi, who had been estranged from his wife for over 15 years, had been living with Kasammal, who supported him during this period.
