Dharmendra’s Dharam-Veer co-actor Zeenat Aman writes an emotional note on his passing: 'world lost a jewel from the Hindi film industry'

Zeenat Aman has shared a deeply emotional tribute to Dharmendra, her Dharam-Veer co-star and one of the actors she was most closely associated with during the peak of her career. Hours after the veteran superstar’s passing, Zeenat posted a series of old photographs with him along with a heartfelt note that quickly struck a chord across the film industry and among fans.

Zeenat reflected not just on Dharmendra’s screen presence but on the warmth, gentleness and grounding simplicity that defined him off-screen. She wrote:

“I am so sad to learn that the world lost a jewel from the Hindi film industry today. Dharam ji was always amongst my favourite co-stars, and I am blessed to have worked alongside him in a number of movies. For an introverted personality such as myself, his down to earth demeanour and natural kindness were a warm comfort on set. At times when the pressure, glitz and glam felt horribly garish, there he was with no pretences or guile. A sweet reminder that life is about the real things not the fluff.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, may it be of some solace that his legacy is cherished by millions of Indians around the world.”

Her words paint a vivid picture of the bond they shared — a bond built on respect, ease and the kind of companionship only two actors carrying the weight of stardom can understand. The photos she shared show the two of them laughing, shooting, and simply being themselves during some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable years.

Zeenat and Dharmendra worked together in several films, including Dharam-Veer, Katilon Ke Kaatil, and Don’t Stop My Crazy Love for You. Their chemistry was marked not by theatrics but by comfort, timing and effortless screen harmony — something audiences continue to revisit even today
