Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, famously known as Jai from the iconic Jai-Veeru duo in Sholay, mourned the passing of his close friend Dharmendra. He paid a heartfelt tribute, remembering the veteran actor’s charm, warmth, and legendary presence.

Amitabh Bachchan shared an emotional note remembering the veteran actor.

Taking to X last night, Amitabh Bachchan mourned the demise of Dharmendra and wrote an emotional tribute that read, "Another valiant Giant has left us ..  left the arena .. leaving behind a silence with an unbearable sound  ..Dharam ji ... the epitome of  greatness,  ever linked not only for his renowned physical presence, but for the largeness of his heart , and its most endearing simplicity.."

Further describing Dharmendra's personality, he continued, "He brought with him the earthiness of the village in Punjab he came from , and remained true to its temperament .. un soiled throughout his glorious career , in a fraternity that witnessed changes every decade .."

Big B finally concluded writing, "The fraternity underwent changes .. not him  ..his smile, his charm and his warmth , extending to all that came in his vicinity .. a rarity in the profession ... the air about us swings vacant ... a vacuum that shall ever remain vacuus.. prayers."

Amitabh Bachchan, along with Abhishek Bachchan and Agastya Nanda, was seen at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai to attend Dharmendra’s last rites.

Sholay, released in 1975, remains one of the most influential films in Indian cinema, and the pairing of Amitabh and Dharmendra will always be remembered as the iconic ‘Jai-Veeru’ duo by fans and film lovers alike.

Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, just days after being discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he had been admitted for a routine checkup. Although he had been stable and recuperating at home, he had complained of breathlessness. Unfortunately, his condition worsened unexpectedly on Monday morning, leading to his demise.
